Leaving, again.

I just finished reading some entries from last year and the year before that.  I read my entries that I wrote before I left for Freshmen year and Sophomore year.  It was cool to see how God was working in my heart back then, and how His grace has kept my heart yearning after Him to this day.  He is so great.

I can distinctly remember the last night I had "at home" before I left for Freshmen year.  We had a bonfire in the backyard and the whole youth group came.  That was such a nice evening.  It was an awesome way of solidifying friendships even in the tough goodbyes.  It's crazy to think that was already 2 years ago!  And in that same amount of time, in two short years from now, I will be graduated from Wheaton and on to who knows where!

Whenever I leave for college, I get this hankering to travel... like far... just for the adventure of it.  I so want to fill up my passport with exotic visas!  I want to get my backpack full of dust from Turkey all the way to South Africa, all the way to China...  yeah...   And then hit South America... yeah...

But way beyond this desire to travel, I want to follow in my Jesus' footsteps.  There is a Kingdom to build!  There is a mission to accomplish!  There are souls to save!  And there is Jesus' face to behold...  at the finish line.

So, may I never loiter in my Heavenly journey!

Goodbye Michigan, Hello Illinois and beyond!

P.S. thanks to all my Riverwood friends for making my summer a very blessed time of refreshment!

P.S. to all my friends who are leaving for freshmen year: you'll be in my prayers!  Send me your addresses so I can snail mail ya.

Jesus satisfies your soul more than anything else... even marathons

Has God ever withheld something from you that you really wanted?

This summer I'm really learning how that is an amazing act of love on God's part.  He keeps us from having too much, so that HE can be our treasure!  And oh how satisfying He really is, more than all the things we ever wanted or ever could want!

All that to say, I am officially through with training for the marathon.  I kinda blew out my left knee, and I get a sharp numbing pain from the side of my knee all the way down to my toes whenever I stride.  I tried ben gay and then tons of stretching, and then running it out, but it's a goner.  I made it 9 weeks into the 18 week training.  I averaged 30 miles each week, with my highest long run being 18 miles.  So close, and yet so far.

Well, I'll have to give it up for at least 2 more years.  Next year, Lord willing, I'll be overseas for 6 months for the HNGR project.  So hopefully the year after that I can try it again.

I gave it my best shot and may God get all the glory!

Pray for me.  I'ma need something else than a marathon to give me a sense of accomplishment.

"But I trust in your unfailing love.  My heart rejoices in your salvation!"

Blog update: 7/30/2007

So I've decided that I'll keep my xanga running.  I'll put personal updates on my xanga, and my theology/philosophy/politics/etc. reflections on blogspot.  I enabled comments on blogspot to anybody, even if you don't have a blogspot.  I appreciate feedback and conversation!

There are two new posts today on my blogspot--one light, one weighty.

Blog update: 7/28/2007

See my latest entry regarding God's sovereignty in all of our ministry: http://theodoxism.blogspot.com/

I trust that it will comfort any who feel that their efforts in ministry are in vain.
